About Me

Portrait of Andrew Watts

I am an accredited psychotherapist with the BACP (MBACP), a qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (SEP), and Supervisor.

For over a decade, I worked closely with communities across the UK, offering pastoral and educational support within the Muslim community and beyond. This work grounded my understanding of how culture, faith, and identity shape our emotional lives.

I went on to spend ten years living in Fez, Morocco, immersing myself in the study of traditional Islamic sciences. This experience continues to inform my therapeutic approach today, as I weave together Islamic principles, clinical research, and the somatic, trauma-informed practices of modern psychotherapy. My work draws on attachment theory, trauma-focused counselling, and nervous system regulation to support healing on multiple levels: mind, body and spirit.

I have had the privilege of studying with Hakim Archuletta, deepening my understanding of traditional wisdom and bodywork, and have trained in Islamic approaches to psychology and psychotherapy under the guidance of Professor Rasjid Skinner and Abdallah Rothman through the International Association of Islamic Psychology (IAIP).
